Welcome to the Karang Divers Blog

Pemuteran Bay coral reef and dive boat, North West Bali

Welcome — and thanks for finding us. This is the first post on the new Karang Divers blog, a place where we’ll share what life looks like from our beachfront bases in Pemuteran Bay, North West Bali. After more than seven years running daily dive trips here, we have a lot of stories to tell, and we figured it was time to start writing them down.

What you’ll find here

The blog will cover three main areas, all rooted in what we actually do every day:

Dive Sites — deep dives (literally and figuratively) into the reefs we visit. Pemuteran Bay alone has six named local sites, plus the world-renowned Menjangan Island walls thirty minutes offshore. Each site has its own personality, its own residents, and its own stories. Expect proper guides — depth, conditions, marine life, what to look for, and what we’ve seen over the years.

Marine Life — species spotlights, seasonal sightings, and what’s actually moving through Pemuteran Bay this month. Whale sharks pass through in October and November. Mola mola show up at deeper Menjangan sites. Mandarin fish put on their dusk display year-round. We’ll cover the macro critters too — the ones you have to slow down to find.

Travel & Trip Planning — practical guides for divers planning a trip here. Getting from Denpasar to Pemuteran. Choosing between dive packages. What to bring (and what to skip). When to come if you want calm seas, when to come if you want a quieter village. The questions we get asked over and over by guests, written down so you can find the answers before you board the plane.

Our courses, our community

We are an SSI & PADI Certified Dive Centre — meaning we teach the full pathway under both agencies, from Discover Scuba Diving through Divemaster and beyond. Many of our guests come for fun dives and end up signing up for a course; many course graduates come back as Pro candidates. The blog will follow some of those journeys.

We’re also deeply involved in the Agung Prana Reef Restoration project — a community-led coral restoration effort using natural-glue methods to rebuild reef structure in Pemuteran Bay. Conservation isn’t a side project for us; it’s woven into how we operate. You’ll see updates here as the project progresses.

How often will we post?

Our aim is roughly monthly — sometimes more when we have a good story, sometimes less when the boats are busy. Quality over quantity. If you want to know when new posts go live, the easiest way is to follow us on Instagram or message us directly — we’ll pass on a link.

If there’s a topic you’d like us to cover — a specific dive site, a question about courses, advice on travel logistics — let us know. The best blog content tends to come from real questions guests have asked.
